COMBUSTION GAS CONDENSERS

This product, whose basis is a battery of Pillow Plates, is a derivation of the Process-Therm but with dimensions and exchanged thermal power that can be much higher.

Like all FIC SpA exchangers, it is sized by our engineers according to the specifications of the process in which it will then be inserted. Optimal performance is ensured thanks to the use of advanced mathematical models and calculation methods.

Flue gas condensers are used in combustion systems using "wet" fuels, such as biomass or MSW.

The combustion gas coming from the burner, after having released energy at high temperature in the boiler, flows externally between the plates of the Flue Gas Condenser while water usually circulates inside them which can for example be that returning from district heating networks, or water used for heating in industrial complexes. The moisture contained in the combustion gases condenses, allowing the recovery of latent heat . Depending on the size of the plates it is possible to reach very low gas/liquid DT values ​​and push the efficiency of these exchangers to the maximum.

In the construction of these capacitors, both normal austenitic steels (e.g. AISI 316L) and SAF2205, SMO 254 and others are used in the case of particular mechanical or corrosion problems. This type of condenser boasts proven operational experience in small, medium and large power thermal energy generation or cogeneration plants (with boilers from 2 up to 200-250MW ).

In addition to condensation and energy recovery with Flue Gas Condensers it is also possible to clean the combustion gases , certainly more efficiently than with condensers that use tube systems, compared to which, moreover, with the use of plates, the Pressure losses on the gas are much lower and with obvious economic advantages.

FIC's FGCs can be supplied complete with smoke inlet and outlet sections, even of considerable size, as well as the other sections for conveying the smoke upstream and downstream.

Thanks to their use, the efficiency of the systems can increase up to 25% , thus having short return on investment times.

The capacitors are also used for other types of use, where the use of Pillow Plate technology represents an undoubted technical and economic advantage.
